PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for cooling rice which has a small configuration, and can quickly cool sheet-shaped rice to a predetermined temperature without drying the rice.SOLUTION: The cooling device includes: a belt conveyor for delivering rice formed in a sheet shape a cool air supplying device for supplying cool air a cool air blowout device which is arranged above the belt conveyor, is communicated and connected with the cool air supplying device, has a cool air blowout port for blowing out the supplied cool air, and sends the cool air to the rice from the cool air blowout port a suction device for suctioning the cool air from below the rice through the belt conveyor. The rice formed in the sheet shape is delivered by the belt conveyor, and the cool air is sent from the cool air blowout device, the cool air is suctioned from below the belt conveyor, and the cool air is let pass the rice.
