The present invention provides a sanitary pad (1) which comprises an absorptive layer (11) capable of retaining a liquid and a leakage-preventing layer (12) being liquid-impermeable and has a substantially vertically long absorbent body (10) and a pair of side leakage-preventing parts (5, 5) covering both lengthwise sides of the surface of the absorbent body (10) to be in contact with the skin, wherein each of the pair of side leakage-preventing parts (5, 5) is made of a side leakage-preventing part forming sheet (50) and the side leakage-preventing part forming sheet (50) is folded outward in the widthwise direction of the absorbent body so as to give a folded edge (51) inward in the widthwise direction of the absorbent body (10). A number of embosses (52, 52,---) are formed in the outerpart of the side leakage-preventing part forming sheet (50) along the widthwise direction of the absorbent body (10). Around the folded edge (51) of each of the pair of side leakage-preventing parts (5, 5), a non-bonded area (5A) wherein the side leakage-preventing part forming sheets (50) are not bonded to each other is provided.
