PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antibacterial agent against streptococcus mutans (S. mutans) and an anti-dental caries agent, containing a substance found out in natural materials, especially from the inside of the skin of grapes and having a bactericidal effect to the streptococcus mutans (S. mutans), as an active ingredient, and an agent for oral use, and a food and a beverage for preventing the dental caries comprising the same. SOLUTION: The antibacterial agent to streptococcus mutans (S. mutans) and an anti-dental caries agent comprise proanthocyanidines prepared from the extract of skin of the grapes, as an active ingredient. Also the agent for oral use, and dental caries-preventing beverage and food comprise the proanthocyanidines prepared from the extract of skin of the grapes as the active ingredient.
