Configurable oxygen concentrators are equipped with electromechanical mechanisms to deliver different volumes of concentrated oxygen at different flow rates to the patient. The mechanism includes a housing having a first side, a second side, and an outer side. The oxygen concentrator also includes a first battery, a second battery, a first absorbent container, and a second absorbent container. The first battery and the second battery can be attached to and detached from the first surface of the housing, and the first absorbent container and the second absorbent container can be attached to and detached from the second surface of the housing. This allows the volume of concentrated oxygen and the uptime of the oxygen concentrator to be changed as the patient's respiratory illness progresses to different stages. The first battery has a smaller capacity than the second battery.
