PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of improving a liquid absorption performance of an absorbent article.SOLUTION: An absorbent article comprises: a first sheet which has hydrophilic property, and permeates a liquid in a thickness direction a second sheet which has impermeability and an absorber sandwiched by the first and second sheets, absorbs and holds the liquid which permeated the first sheet. A groove part is provided on a surface on the first sheet side of the absorber. Between the second sheet and the absorber, a diffusion layer which has hydrophilic property, and diffuses the liquid which permeated the second sheet side through the absorber is provided on a position overlapping with the groove part in viewing from the absorber in a direction going to the diffusion layer.
