The use of a combination of whey protein, leucine and at least ω-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid selected from the group: eicosapentaenoic acid, docosahexaenoic acid, eicosatetraenoic acid and docosapentaenoic acid, to improve muscle function in a mammal. The use of a nutritional composition containing the combination according to claim 1, which includes: (a) at least 18 en.% Protein material, wherein said protein material contains whey protein; (b) at least 12 wt.% Leucine to the total protein material; and (c) a lipid fraction containing at least ω-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid selected from the group of eicosapentaenoic acid, docosahexaenoic acid, eicosatetraenoic acid and docosapentaenoic acid, to improve muscle function in a mammal. 3. The use of the combination according to claim 1 or the nutritional composition according to claim 2, where muscle function is a function of skeletal muscle.
