The invention relates to a process for the preparation of pharmaceutical compositions comprising the steps of:a.1) mixing or blending powders comprising febuxostat and at least one pharmaceutically acceptable excipient in solid form using convection mixers or blenders at least until a homogeneous mixture is obtained, optionally mixing or blending the previous mixture with further excipients in solid form or alternativelya.2) mixing or blending powders comprising febuxostat with at least one disintegrating agent in solid form until a homogeneous mixture is obtained, optionally mixing or blending the previous mixture with further excipients in solid form, wherein the w/w % of disintegrating agents is not lower than 8 % of the pharmaceutical composition andb) compressing the mixture of step (a) into tablets.
