A respiratory preparation for use in providing relief from cough on demand in a human being, wherein said respiratory preparation comprises: a) a film forming agent； b) a thickening agent； wherein said respiratory preparation is administered to the mouth and / or throat and / or esophagus with a sprayer delivery device, wherein said film forming agent is selected from poly (ethylene oxide), and wherein said agent thickener is selected from pregelatinized starch, pregelatinized starch with a high amylose content, pregelatinized hydrolyzed starches, chemically modified starches such as pregelatinized substituted starches, locust bean gum, guar gum, gellan gum, xanthan gum, ghatti gum, modified ghatti gum tragacanth, carrageenan, anionic polymers derived from cellulose such as sodium carboxymethylcellulose, poloxamers, and mixtures thereof.Una preparación respiratoria para uso en proporcionar alivio de la tos a demanda en un ser humano, en donde dicha preparación respiratoria comprende: a) un agente filmógeno； b) un agente espesante； en donde dicha preparación respiratoria se administra a la boca y/o la garganta y/o el esófago con un dispositivo de administración en forma de pulverizador, en donde dicho agente filmógeno se selecciona de poli(óxido de etileno), y en donde dicho agente espesante se selecciona de almidón pregelatinizado, almidón pregelatinizado con un elevado contenido de amilosa, almidones hidrolizados pregelatinizados, almidones modificados químicamente tales como almidones pregelatinizados sustituidos, goma de algarrobo, goma guar, goma gellan, goma xantano, goma ghatti, goma ghatti modificada, goma tragacanto, carragenato, polímeros aniónicos derivados de celulosa tales como carboximetilcelulosa de sodio, poloxámeros, y mezclas de los mismos.
