PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for production of a flaky fine powder which enable production of a high-purity flaky powder in a high yield with high productivity.SOLUTION: A method and an apparatus for production of a flaky fine powder includes an application step of carrying an endless belt 11 continuously and forming an ionic liquid 26 on the surface of the endless belt, in a vacuum vessel 10, a film formation step of forming a thin film of a metal or a metal compound on the ionic liquid 26 and a peeling step of peeling the ionic liquid 26 and the thin film from the endless belt 11, with the steps carried out twice or more, continuously and repeatedly. The application step comprises drawing up the endless belt 11 from a bath 27 storing the ionic liquid 26 kept at a temperature equal to or higher than the melting point, and the peeling step is carried out by immersing the endless belt 11 in the bath 27.
