PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for growing plants utilizing heat of combustion of a wood stove allowing combustion of green wood of a coniferous tree such as a Japanese cedar or a pine which is difficult to burn as firewood, and to provide a method for growing plants in a greenhouse.SOLUTION: The wood stove includes a top surface 11e of a wood stove body part 11 comprising a steel plate, and a nearly chevron shape or a triangular roof plate 17 placed and fixed in the central part thereof from the left end toward the right end of the top surface 11e. The triangular roof plate 17 makes intake air fed from a suction duct part 13B flow smoothly between right and left lateral faces 11h and 11g of the wood stove body part 11 and an outer frame case 12 without in direct contact with the top surface 11e of the wood stove body part 11. Hot-air blowoff holes 21 and 21 are formed in right and left bottom parts 12b and 12b in the lower part of the outer frame case 12, respectively. The outside peripheries of the hot-air blowoff holes 21 and 21 fix cylindrical bodies 21a and 21a, and the base end parts of hot-air ducts 22 and 22 laid in a field are fixed to the cylindrical bodies.
