PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disposable diaper having excellent flexibility, cushion property, air permeability and dehumidification property in a part where a stretchable material is arranged, while being easily manufactured and effectively preventing leaking of excrement from the part where the stretchable material is arranged.SOLUTION: The disposable diaper 1 includes front and rear cover portions for covering a waist of a wearer, and a crotch cover portion for covering a crotch of the wearer. Also, stretchable sections 80 has stretchable nonwoven cloth formed at the portion such as the rear cover portion, and the stretchable section 80 is formed to stretch/contract in the direction along the waist. Further, a cell forming sheet 82 comprising nonwoven cloth is disposed in a part of the skin-contact surface on the portion where the stretchable section 80 is formed, while a joint part 84 is formed for joining the cell forming sheet 82 and the stretchable section 80. By the joint part 84, cells 86 extending in the cross direction for intersecting the direction the stretchable section 80 stretches/contracts are defined and formed between the layers of the cell forming sheet 82 and the stretchable section 80. The one end of the cell 86 is open and the other end is closed, and thus, the cell 86 does not pass through.
