PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disposable diaper which is excellent in stretch properties, flexibility and cushioning properties at a side-edge part (a circumferential edge of a leg opening for example) of a crotch cover section of the diaper, and is easy to produce with a good feeling of wear.SOLUTION: The disposable diaper includes: a front cover section and a rear cover section for covering the waist of a wearer and a crotch cover section with an absorber disposed therein for covering the crotch of the wearer. Stretchable sections 80 made of stretchable nonwoven cloth are formed at least in the right and left side-edge parts of the crotch cover section. The stretchable sections 80 are configured so as to stretch and contract in the direction along the side edge of the crotch cover section. A ventilation passage forming sheets 82 made of water-repellent nonwoven cloth are disposed on portions of a skin contact surface of the crotch cover section. The ventilation passage forming sheets 82 are laid on the stretchable sections 80 in a stretch state.
