PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disposable diaper for promoting the continued adherence thereof to a wearer.SOLUTION: The disposable diaper 1 having one torso-surrounding opening and a pair of leg-surrounding openings includes: a front section 4F, a back section 4B, a crotch section 4C, and a pair of leg-surrounding sheet sections 6L, 6R that have elastic expansion or contraction properties. Outer-edge regions 6LF, 6LB, 6RF, 6RB in the longitudinal direction and interior-side edge regions 6LI, 6RI of the leg-surrounding sheets are each joined in a state of no or little expansion, on one respective side of the crotch section, to bottom edge regions 4FB, 4BB of the front and back sections and lateral edge regions 4CL, 4CR of the crotch section. The leg-surrounding sheets are each equipped with notches 6LC, 6RC for forming the leg-surrounding openings. Neither of the leg-surrounding sheet sections 6L, 6R have wrinkles around the leg-surrounding opening thereof.
