The invention relates to a system for traceability of a dental prosthesis (1). Such a dental prosthesis (1) comprises an electrical power source coupled to a radio communications signal transmitter capable of assuming a weakly active state in which it periodically transmit signals at a first transmission frequency, and a strongly active state in which it periodically transmit signals at a second transmission frequency greater than the first, and at least one presence sensor for sensing the presence of the prosthesis in a mouth of a user (22), capable of supplying a piece of information on the presence or absence of the prosthesis in the mouth. The transmitter is configured to switch from the weakly active state to the strongly active state when said sensor supplies a piece of information on the absence of said prosthesis in said mouth. The system also comprises a base (2) forming a support for the dental prosthesis when it is not worn by a user, and the transmitter is configured to adopt the weakly active state on detecting a presence of said dental prosthesis in the vicinity of the base.
