PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods of using compounds for use in producing pharmaceuticals for treating insulin resistance disorders in humans in need of treatment.SOLUTION: The invention provides not naturally occurring compounds for modulating the activity or level of a sirtuin, thereby treating or preventing obesity or an insulin resistance disorder such as diabetes in a subject. A therapy comprises contacting a cell with a sirtuin activating compound, e.g., represented by the formula (1), or an inhibitory sirtuin compound to thereby increase or decrease fat accumulation, respectively.【課題】治療が必要であるヒトおいてインシュリン耐性障害を治療するための医薬の製造に用いる化合物の使用法の提供。【解決手段】サーチュインの活性又はレベルを調節し、それによって対象における肥満又は、糖尿病などのインシュリン耐性疾患を治療又は予防するするための天然で生じない化合物。治療にあたっては、細胞を、例えば式（１）で表されるサーチュイン活性化化合物又は阻害性化合物に接触させることで、脂肪蓄積をそれぞれ上昇させる又は減少させるステップが含まれる。【選択図】なし
