Composition, use and kit for the treatment of skin lesions, said composition comprising at least 20 wt. % monochloroacetic acid based on the total weight of the composition, one or more thickeners, and one or more physiologically acceptable liquid carriers, wherein the thickener is selected from the group consisting of cellulose, carboxymethyl cellulose, ethyl cellulose, hydroxyethyl cellulose hydroxypropyl cellulose and methyl cellulose.
