An adjustment mechanism (114, 115, 215) for reel-to-bedknife clearance includes an adjuster base (150, 250) having an internal bore, an adjustment knob (141, 241) attached to a rod (122, 222) extending through the internal bore to engage one of the reel (106) or bedknife (110), and a detent spring (160) captured between the adjuster base (150, 250) and the adjustment knob (141, 241) and biased against the adjustment member to resist rotation of the adjustment knob (141, 241). The detent spring (160) may engage radial notches (142, 243) on the adjustment knob (141, 241) at a plurality of reel-to-bedknife clearance positions.
