A trans-connector used to interconnect a pair of vertical vertebral rods in a spinal fixation procedure. The trans-connector includes a bridge member and first and second vertebral rod-joining members. The bridge member has first and second members, and the first and second members are movably connected to each other, so that the gap between the first and second vertebra joining members can be adjusted. The first and second vertebral body binding members include a rod receiving channel for receiving one of the vertebral rods therein. The vertebrae engagement members may, for example, be segmented in one direction of swinging and rolling, or may be non-segmental in relation to the bridge members.
