PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a guide wire reduced in its distal end outer diameter to improve the insertability of the guide wire into a stenotic lesion site and imparting a temporary stopper function utilizing the deformation of an outer diameter change part when shifting from a small diameter part of the distal end to a large diameter part of a proximal end, thereby preventing the perforation of a peripheral blood vessel in a more peripheral direction with respect to a stenotic part and the damage of a blood vessel wall to improve safety.SOLUTION: The guide wire 1 includes: a core shaft 2 a first coil body 3 covering the distal end of the core shaft 2 and a second coil body 5 having a coil outer diameter smaller than the coil outer diameter of the first coil body 3.
