PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a getting on/off assisting device for a wheelchair, capable of being utilized for various wheelchairs.SOLUTION: The getting on/off assisting device includes: a first air cylinder 14 for supporting a seat plate 13 that is wide enough to mount a wheelchair 2, to a floor surface 15 in such a way that the posture can be freely changed between a horizontal posture and a forward inclined posture, and for changing the posture of the seat plate to the horizontal posture or to the forward inclined posture and a stopper 20 to abut on a front wheel 8 of the wheelchair 2 when the seat plate 13 is at the forward inclined posture to restrain the wheelchair 2 from moving forward.
