A liquid dispersing apparatus, which is attachable to an animal, is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a liquid dispersing means (4) and an attachment means (2) for attaching the liquid dispersing means to an animal. In use, the liquid dispersing means is configured to disperse the animal&rsquos urine over a larger surface area of pasture when the animal urinates. The spreading if urine advantageously allows a greater number of plants to uptake nitrogen from the urine soaked soil and subsequently reduces nitrogen leaching into groundwater. A method for reducing nitrogen leaching and a method of fertilising plant growth are also disclosed.
