A building includes a footing element and first and second primary I-beam supports 17, 18) secured to rows of piles of the footing element. The primary supports run parallel to the length of the building. At least two cross beams 22, 23, 26 bear on the top surface of the first and second primary supports such that a longitudinal axis of at least one of the cross beams is at an angle to the length of the first primary support. There are no intermediate load bearing members which span between the first and second primary supports positioned between the first and second primary supports and the footing element. Further cross beams 24 are attached between the ends of the third and fourth cross beams to form a rigid frame attached to the top of the primary beams.
