The invention is based on the object of cutting all the ripe leaves simultaneously from those leaves growing out around the circumference of the sisal plant stem. Leaves are cut which either grow horizontally out of the stem or form an angle therewith of up to approximately 45 DEG . The diameter of the stem of an ordinary sisal plant is between 300 mm and 400 mm. The object of simultaneous cutting of several sisal leaves is achieved according to the invention in that the annular or circular arc-shaped implement is adapted to the minimum stem diameter of 300 mm. For cutting the leaves on the larger stem diameter, the two circular arc-shaped arms of the implement, consisting of individual members connected by joints, are adapted to the larger stem diameter by simple manual actuation (Figure 1). The two circular arc-shaped arms are connected in an articulated manner and are driven in an oscillating manner by a crank. The advantages achieved by the invention consist in the fact that several sisal leaves can be separated from the stem with few oscillating cutting movements of the saw blade. <IMAGE>
