The invention refers to a tool arrangement (1), comprising a hand held or hand guided tool (2) generating vibrations during its operation and transmitting these to an operator (3) using the tool (2), the tool (2) being activated by supplying power to the tool and deactivated by interrupting the power supply, the tool arrangement (1) further comprising a monitoring device (5) for calculating the overall vibration level the operator (3) is exposed to during use of the tool (2), the calculation depending on a vibration value and on an exposure time value derived from a timer (6). It suggested that the monitoring device (5) comprises means (7) for automatically starting the timer (6) when power is supplied to the tool (2) and for automatically stopping the timer (6) after interrupting the power supply. The monitoring device (5) preferably makes part of a vacuum cleaner (20) connected to the tool (2) and automatically activated upon activation of the tool (2) and automatically deactivated after deactivation of the tool (2).
