A separator 10 for solid electrolyte fuel cell according to the present invention includes: a separator main body including partially stabilized zirconia; and a protective layer formed on a surface of the body, the protective layer includes a material that undergoes no phase transition in a temperature range of 100°C to 300°C, or a material that has a thermal expansion coefficient different from a thermal expansion coefficient of the separator main body within ±1.5 ppm/K or less, and the material of the protective layer is not altered by water vapor.
