The invention relates to a method for configuring a lighting component (10) having a control unit (12) and a memory unit (12s). The method comprises the steps of: – (S1) a first radio transponder (20, 20a, 20b, 20c, 20d, 20+, 20-) with a first configuration memory content, which is prescribed for setting at least one first parameter memory content of the lighting component, being introduced into a prescribable radio coverage area (15) of the lighting component, – (S2) the first configuration memory content being read by the control unit, – (S3) the first radio transponder being removed from the radio coverage area, and – (S4) the at least one first parameter memory content of the memory unit being set on the basis of the first configuration memory content. The invention furthermore relates to a configurable lighting component (10) having a control unit (12) and a memory unit (12s) for performing such a method and to a system having such a lighting component (10).
