PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a guide wire improving rotation properties (operability of the guide wire), while retaining insertion properties of the guide wire, and reducing a possibility of being peeled (turned up) from a tip of a resin layer.SOLUTION: A guide wire 1 includes: a rear end part 42 in which a resin layer 40 covers an outer periphery of a coil body 30 and which has a thick outside diameter D1 a tip part 46 which is located between a core shaft 10 and the coil body at a tip side than the rear end part and has an outside diameter D2 narrower than that of the rear end part and a tapered part 44 which has an outside diameter reducing from D1 to D2 toward the tip side between the rear end part and the tip part, where the coil body at the tip part is not covered by the resin layer but is exposed.
