Proposed are a method and a system for segmenting a body and a region of interest (ROI) in a chest x-ray image. The method, proposed according to the present invention, for segmenting the body and the ROI in the chest x-ray image includes the steps of: detecting background components by using a slope of a histogram while sequentially increasing brightness of the image with starting from a center of the histogram； reducing boundary errors between the detected background components and the ROI by using a guide filter； and removing portions other than the target region after performing an initial detection by defining a target region as a boundary point within the ROI, to segment the ROI by using a bounding box, such that the target region is detected.흉부 X-ray 영상에서 몸체 및 관심영역 분할 방법 및 시스템이 제시된다. 본 발명에서 제안하는 흉부 X-ray 영상에서 몸체 및 관심영역 분할 방법은 히스토그램의 중심부부터 시작하여 순차적으로 영상의 밝기값을 상승시키면서 상기 히스토그램의 기울기를 이용하여 배경성분을 검출하는 단계, 가이드 필터를 이용하여 상기 검출된 배경성분과 관심영역의 경계오차를 줄이는 단계, 상기 관심영역 중 목표영역을 경계지점으로 하여 초기 검출을 한 후, 상기 목표영역을 제외한 부분을 제거하고, 바운딩 박스를 이용하여 상기 관심영역을 분할함으로써 상기 목표영역을 검출하는 단계를 포함할 수 있다.
