<；P>；PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new rice variant having mutated rice starch synthase. <；P>；SOLUTION: There is provided a genetically fixed rice variant in which the gene loci of rice starch synthase IIIa (SSIIIa) and rice starch synthase IVb (SSIVb) are recessive homozygote. The SSIIIa activity of the rice variant is lowered compared with wild-type rice. There is further provided a rice variant keeping 80% or more of the seed weight and maintaining agricultural character compared with wild type and parent line rice. Starch produced by the rice variant has a form different from starch produced by using wild-type rice or a parent line rice caused by lowering of SSIIIa activity. <；P>；COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
