Cxcl12 deficient mice of the present invention exhibit embryological defects such as abnormal tail/limb development, placental formation, aortic arch patterning, pulmonary artery patterning, cardiac development, intersegmental artery patterning, and craniofacial area development, and exhibit abnormal vascular development symptoms such as symptoms of BPS seen in clinical practice. Therefore, Cxcl12 knockout mice can be useful animal models in the development and validation of therapeutic methods as well as in research on the cause of pulmonary sequestration.
