Disclosed herein are methods of enhancing repair of vascularlesions involving the administration of cells in which TGF-.beta. expressionand/or activity has been transiently blocked. Other methods involvethe administration of a TGF-.beta. blocking agent to a subject who has avascularlesion or is at risk of developing a vascular lesion. Alternatively, aTGF-.beta. blocking agent and treated cells are co-administered to a subjectinneed thereof.
