PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-based ink for inkjet recording, which is excellent in suppressing foaming of the water-based ink and in responsiveness to a drive frequency, and which is suitable for high-speed printing, and to provide an inkjet recording method using the water-based ink.SOLUTION: [1] The water-based ink for inkjet recording comprises water-insoluble polymer particles containing a pigment, and a surfactant. The surfactant comprises: a surfactant (A) having an average molar number of ethylene oxide of 0.5 or more and 5.0 or less added to acetylene glycol; and a surfactant (B) having an average molar number of ethylene oxide of 8.0 or more and 35.0 or less added to acetylene glycol. The total content of the surfactant (A) and the surfactant (B) is 0.03 mass% or more and less than 0.40 mass%; and a mass ratio of the surfactant (A) to the surfactant (B) (surfactant (A)/surfactant (B)) is 0.25 or more and 4.0 or less.
