PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a skin care composition for external use etc., having practically sufficient antiseptic property and giving little irritation to skin.SOLUTION: The skin care composition for external use (excluding those to be applied to mucosa) contains a polyhydric alcohol having a carbon number of 2-6 and a hydroxyl group number of 2-4 and chlorobutanol and free from an antiseptic agent included in the cosmetic standard positive list except for chlorobutanol.
