PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject preventing and treating agent for preventing or treating cold water disease by containing a sulfa agent and sodium chloride to sterilize Flexibacter psychrophillus as a causing bacteria of the cold water disease of fishes. SOLUTION: This preventing and treating agent for cold water disease contains (A) a sulfa agent [as especially preferable sulfisozole of the formula (formal name: 3-sulfanylamideisoxazole) is cited] and (B) sodium chloride. The objective fishes are preferably sweet fish or salmon (including coho salmon, rainbow trout, sockeye red salmon, king salmon, etc.), and the preventing and treating agent is preferably used by adding it in water where the fishes live.
