A clip applier (10) includes an outer tube (12), an actuation member (14), and an end effector (16). The actuation member has a distal portion including a cam member (40). The end effector includes a first jaw and a second jaw. Each of the first and second jaws includes a proximal portion that defines a cam slot (48). The cam member of the actuation member is operatively engaged with the cam slots of the first and second jaws such that movement of the actuation member from the first position to the second position causes movement of the end effector from an intermediate position to the open position and subsequently to the clamped position.
