PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method and a production device capable of continuously and efficiently producing an absorber having desired absorption performance.SOLUTION: The production method of the absorber for an absorbent article comprises a sheet piece production step for producing a plurality of short sheet pieces from a belt-state raw material sheet including synthetic fibers. The sheet piece production step comprises: a slit formation step for supplying the raw material sheet to a slit formation part while transporting the raw material sheet in one direction, and forming a plurality of slits extended along the transport direction and juxtaposed in a direction crossing the transport direction on the raw material sheet； a division step for bringing the raw material sheet on which the slit is formed, into contact with contact parts in a division member comprising a plurality of contact parts in a direction orthogonal to the transport direction of the raw material sheet at an interval, introducing a region between the slits between the contact parts, and dividing the raw material sheet into a long cut piece； and a cutting step for cutting the long cut piece in a direction crossing the longitudinal direction of the long cut piece, and forming the short sheet pieces. The production device suitable for the production method is also provided.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1COPYRIGHT: (C)2020,JPO&INPIT【課題】所望の吸収性能を備えた吸収体を連続的に効率よく製造する製造方法及び製造装置を提供すること。【解決手段】本発明の吸収性物品用の吸収体の製造方法は、合成繊維を含む帯状の原料シートから複数の短尺シート片を製造するシート片製造工程を備える。シート片製造工程は、原料シートを一方向に搬送しつつスリット形成部に供給して、原料シートに、その搬送方向に沿って延び且つ該搬送方向と交差する方向に並列した複数のスリットを形成するスリット形成工程と、スリットが形成された原料シートを、複数の当接部を該原料シートの搬送方向と直交する方向に間隔を置いて有する分割部材における該当接部に接触させ且つ該当接部どうしの間にスリット間の領域を導入して、長尺状切断片に分割する分割工程と、長尺状切断片をその長手方向と交差する方向に切断し、短尺シート片を形成する切断工程とを備える。また、本製造方法に好適な製造装置も提供する。【選択図】図１
