PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a packing material for a rice ball capable of obtaining a large opening in a simple way at low cost, and a rice ball packed in the packing material.SOLUTION: A tearing part has a belt-like body having a uniform width. An outer film has a right-side film guide line on the right outside of the tearing part, extending toward right outside, and has a left-side film guide line on the left outside of the tearing part, extending toward left outside. A label is attached to the surface of the outer film, covering a part of the tearing part, the right-side film guide line and the left-side film guide line. The label includes a label guide line which leads the tearing width of the label in the crosswise direction at a position corresponding to the right-side film guide line and the left-side film guide line to be gradually increased along the tearing direction, when the tearing part is torn to open the packed rice ball.
