The ventilation system for a stable comprises one or more fans to supply air via a perforated (20) duct (19) to a chamber (18) largely separated (3) from the main space of the stable. Closable (14) openings (11,12) are provided to admit outside air (8,11) and air from the stable interior (12) to this chamber so that this air is carried along by the supply air, the mixture entering the stable via openings (7) between spaced panels (5). The chamber is arranged in an upper corner of the stable and may extend over its full length. The closure (14) is operable (15-17) to vary the relative proportions of outside and stable air entering the chamber.
