PURPOSE: Provided is porous wood chips for animal waste fermentation which have a cube shape with round edges unlike conventional wood chips. Accordingly, the resultant wood chips have high water absorbency and durability. CONSTITUTION: The porous wood chips are formed by cutting a dried wood absorbing water into a cube, hexahedron(10), and forming fine holes into three directions, where the edges of the cube are rounded. The holes are formed to the depth, being up to 1/2 or the end of the cube, in a direction of the inside from the surface as the following ways: holes(h1) formed toward the X-axis at regular intervals; holes(h2) formed toward the Y-axis at regular intervals without crossing X-axis directions; holes(h3) formed toward Z-axis at regular intervals without crossing X- and Y-axis directions.
