Specifically, the liquid material application method has an application step (S2) for applying a fragrance (26) on one side of a sheet-shaped object (2) and a folding step for folding, at least one time in at least the longitudinal direction in a valley fold, the object (2) to which the fragrance (26) has been applied, wherein, in the application step (S2), the fragrance (26) is applied only to a portion of the object (2) that does not come into contact with the portion of the object (2) that is held down in the thickness direction of the object (2) during a holding-down step (S3).
