Ophthalmic composition for the treatment of ophthalmic diseases, comprising: an ester or amide of an anti-inflammatory lipoid mediator, which is a reaction product of an anti-inflammatory lipoid mediator and a monohydric alcohol or amine； an iodine delivery system； where most of the anti-inflammatory lipoid mediator is present in the form of an ester. 2. The composition of claim 1, wherein the ester is present in a therapeutically effective amount. The composition of claim 1, wherein the composition is substantially free of fatty acids. The composition of claim 1, wherein the composition contains 10% by weight or less of an acid form of an anti-inflammatory lipoid mediator. The composition of claim 4, wherein the composition contains 5% by weight or less of an acid form of an anti-inflammatory lipoid mediator. The composition of claim 5, wherein the composition contains 1% by weight or less of an acid form of an anti-inflammatory lipoid mediator. The composition of claim 1, wherein the ester is present in an amount in the range of about 0.01% to 5.0% by weight based on the total weight of the composition. The composition of claim 7, wherein the ester is present in an amount in the range of about 0.025% to 0.5% by weight based on the total weight of the composition.
