PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article configured to suppress uneven distribution of an absorbent within a cell while maintaining the advantages of an absorber having the absorbent movably enclosed in a number of cells.SOLUTION: The absorbent article has a first sheet 57, a second sheet 58 having a plurality of pleats juxtaposed to extend in a predetermined direction, and the absorbent 59 disposed between the first and second sheets. The first sheet is joined to a first sheet-side bottom in each pleat of the second sheet to form a joint portion, whereby the tunnel-shaped cell is formed each between joint portions. The granular absorbent 59 containing at least a highly absorptive polymer particle is enclosed in each cell with a space so as to be movable. The second sheet is laid in a one-way falling state in which all pleats thereof fall toward one side of the juxtaposing direction to form double portions and single portions of the second sheet. The first sheet includes an adhesive layer 56t provided at a part exposed to the cell inner surface, but a portion exposed to the cell inner surface in the second sheet is entirely free from the adhesive layer 56.
