PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep a distance large in the thickness direction between an absorbent sheet member and a back sheet member in the vicinity of the opening of an absorbent article.
SOLUTION: In this absorbent article 1, in each space between the front absorbing core 221, the side absorbing core 222 and the rear absorbing core 223 of the absorbent sheet member 20, and the back sheet member 23, a front pocket 26, side pocket 28 and a rear pocket 27 in which excrement having passed through the opening 25 is housed are formed. In the absorbent article 1, a shrinking force is applied to the side absorbing core 222 by the shrinkage of a pair of core section elastic members 29 which are overlapped with a pair of the side absorbing cores 222 on both of the right and left sides of the opening 25 when viewed from the top, and the side absorbing core 222 greatly separates from the back sheet member 23. Thus, the distance in the thickness direction between the absorbent sheet member 20 and the back sheet member 23 in the vicinity of the opening 25 can be kept large.
