The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing a paste-like composition including performing decarboxylative dimerization with respect to a fatty acid composition in which a fatty acid is composed such that (1) the amount of a branched-chain fatty acid is equal to or greater than 70 % by mass to a total mass of a total fatty acids, (2) the amount of a liquid type branched-chain fatty acid having a carboxylic acid at 25℃ is equal to or less than 65% by mass to a total mass of a total fatty acids, and (3) the content ratio of a liquid type branched-chain fatty acid having two or three carboxylic acids at 25℃ to a total mass of the branched-chain fatty acid is equal to or greater than 10 % by mass; and then performing a hydrogenation and deoxidation reaction to an obtained aliphatic ketone. According to the present invention, it is possible to provide a hydrocarbon composition and a method of manufacturing thereof, the hydrocarbon composition having a decreased amount of impurities excluding desired components; having excellent preservation stability, slipperiness (smoothness) during application, gloss after application, stability under light irradiation, lubricity, and release characteristics; and placing minimal burden on the environment, in comparison with an existing hydrocarbon composition.本發明係有關於一種糊狀組成物之製造方法,其特徵在於:對脂肪酸組成物進行脫碳酸的二聚化反應之後,對所得到的脂肪族酮進行氫化脫氧反應,其中該脂肪酸組成物之脂肪酸組成係(1)相對於總脂肪酸的合計質量,分枝鏈脂肪酸之含量為70質量%以上,(2)相對於總脂肪酸的合計質量,具有1個羧酸之於25℃為液狀的分枝鏈脂肪酸之含量為65質量%以下,且(3)相對於分枝鏈脂肪酸的合計質量,具有2或3個羧酸之於25℃為液狀的分枝鏈脂肪酸之含有比率為10質量%以上。依照本發明,能夠提供一種烴組成物及其製造方法,該烴組成物相較於既有的烴組成物,能夠減低目標成分以外的夾雜物含量,且保存安定性、塗布時的滑性(滑溜度)、塗布後的光澤、在光照射下之安定性、潤滑性及脫模性優異,而且能夠減低環境負荷。
