PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrocarbon composition that has a reduced amount of impurities other than an intended component, and is excellent in moldability, stability, releasability, water repellency, waterproofness, and anti-blocking property and reduces an environmental load, as compared with an existing hydrocarbon composition, and to provide a method for producing the hydrocarbon composition.SOLUTION: In a fatty acid composition, (1) a content of a linear fatty acid is 30 mass% or more and 100 mass% or less, or (2) a content of a linear fatty acid is 25 mass% or more and less than 30 mass% and a branched fatty acid that comprises 2 or 3 carboxylic acids and is a liquid at 25°C is not included in the fatty acid composition or is included at a content of equal to or less than a detection limit in the fatty acid composition.
