PURPOSE: An underwater survey apparatus for fish and a method thereof are provided to clearly measure visibility of a region for surveying the species composition and population size of the fish and partition the region, thereby objectively determining the species composition and population size of the fish per unit volume. CONSTITUTION: An underwater survey apparatus for fish is composed of a measuring unit(100) and an image capturing unit(200). The measuring unit measures a visible range of a region for underwater survey. The measuring unit includes a measuring stick, an identification plate, and a driving means. The identification plate penetrates the measuring stick to be installed, and the plate moves forward or backward according to the measuring stick. The image capturing unit displays a relevant region of a unit area within a measured visible range and captures images of fish.본 발명은 인공어초 주변에 서식하고 있는 어류의 종 조성 및 개체수에 대한 정보를 단위 부피 개념으로 산출하여 객관적인 정보를 얻을 수 있는 수중 어류 조사 장치 및 그 방법에 관한 것으로서, 특히 본 발명의 일 실시형태에 따른 수중 어류 조사 장치는 인공어초 주변에 서식하는 어류의 종 조성 및 개체수를 조사하는 장치로서, 수중에서 촬영지역의 가시거리를 측정하는 측정 유닛과； 상기 측정 유닛으로 측정한 가시거리 내에서 단위 면적에 해당되는 영역을 표시하면서 표시 영역 내의 어류를 촬영하는 촬영 유닛을 포함한다.
