PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mortar which can be down-sized and can obtain fine powders.SOLUTION: A mortar is so configured that a pulverization object is pulverized by rotation of an upper mortar 360 and a lower mortar 350. The upper mortar 360 includes a first rubbing surface 360a, and the lower mortar 350 includes a second rubbing surface 350a which is so located as to face the first rubbing surface 360a. The second rubbing face 350a is a flat surface parallel to a radial direction of a central axis C, and includes a concavity which is so provided as to be concaved from a virtual plane VP in the case that the virtual plane VP passing a portion positioned at a highest part of the second rubbing surface 350a is set as a reference. The first rubbing surface 350a is so provided as to project to the lower mortar 350 side from the virtual plane VP, and has a salient 364, 365 which is fitted into at least a part of the cavity 354, 355.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 17
