PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To estimate, in an image analysis apparatus and method, and program, a subject's body thickness distribution by analyzing an image of the subject taken by irradiating the subject with radiation.SOLUTION: A radiographic image analysis method comprises: obtaining a subject's image Ik； obtaining a virtual model M of the subject having a prescribed body thickness distribution； generating a combined image of an estimated primary ray image and an estimated scattered ray image as an estimated image Im which estimate is estimated from a radiographic image to be obtained by radiographing the subject, the estimated primary ray image being obtained by estimating, from the virtual model M, a primary ray image to be obtained by radiographing the virtual model M, and the estimated scattered ray image being obtained by estimating, from the virtual model M, a scattered ray image to be obtained by radiographing the virtual model M； modifying a body thickness distribution of the virtual model M such that the difference between the estimated image Im and the subject's image Ik becomes smaller； and determining the modified body thickness distribution of the virtual model M as the body thickness distribution of the subject.【課題】画像解析装置および方法並びにプログラムにおいて、被写体に放射線を照射することにより撮影された被写体画像を解析して、被写体の体厚分布を推定する。【解決手段】被写体画像Ｉｋを取得し、所定の体厚分布を有する被写体の仮想モデルＭを取得し、仮想モデルＭの放射線撮影により得られる一次線画像を仮想モデルＭから推定した推定一次線画像と仮想モデルＭの放射線撮影により得られる散乱線画像を仮想モデルＭから推定した推定散乱線画像とを合成した画像を、被写体の放射線撮影により得られる放射線画像を推定した推定画像Ｉｍとして生成し、推定画像Ｉｍと被写体画像Ｉｋの違いが小さくなるように仮想モデルＭの体厚分布を修正し、修正された仮想モデルＭの体厚分布を被写体の体厚分布として決定する。【選択図】図２
