PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical system for estimating the deformation of an anatomic structure.SOLUTION: A medical system for estimating the deformation of an anatomic structure generates a first model of at least one anatomical passageway from anatomical data describing a patient anatomy, and determines a shape of a device positioned within the branched anatomical passageways.
