The method involves producing a supplied image from x-rays emitted on a measuring field that has a pixel selection unit (3) of a flat image detector (13). Size and/or position of the field is adjusted on an active matrix (2) based on respective examination object. A pixel signal of the image is analyzed and an amount of electricity required to obtain target pixels is determined in a detector-internal manner. The matrix is illuminated by a rear-sided lighting of an illuminating unit of an x-ray system, during admission of the image, where the detector has the matrix based on amorphous silicon.
